February 19-21, 2022
The Massac Area Student Winter Retreat is a three-day event for Jr. & Sr. High Students in the Massac County area designed to help them build relationships with one another and with God. The Retreat will take place February 19-21, 2022 at Spring Mill Inn (pictured left) located at Spring Mill State Park in Indiana. The first two days of the Retreat are filled with music, teaching, group competitions, and lots of free time for swimming and games. On Sunday afternoon we will spend time touring the park and its caves. Monday, the final day of the trip, we hope to travel to Paoli Peaks and spend the day snowboarding, skiing, and tubing. We are not sure of the availability at this time. This will be an extra expense There will also be personal time each day for students to be alone with God.
Whats the theme?
Our camp pastor this year is Clay Blankenbaker. Clay will challenge our students to live their faith boldly for Jesus! Our ski trip theme is “ASSURED” from 1 John 5:13.The Gospel is so amazing! It gives us as believers so many blessings and privileges inside the family of God. However, finding assurance in the Gospel seems to allude many believers today. Over the course of our retreat weekend we will examine the scriptures, find God’s promises to us, and see how believers can trust in the character of God and find their assurance in Him.
The youth worship band from First Baptist, “6th & Girard” & Students from participating churches will Lead us in worship through music.
What Do We Need to Bring?
You will need appropriate clothing for two days in the hotel and one day of skiing/snowboarding (if available.) You will also need good shoes or boots on Sunday afternoon for a hiking tour of the park. There will be opportunities to swim if you would like, so bring appropriate swimwear. Students will also need a Bible for all the main sessions, break-out sessions, and personal devotion times. If you have any questions about what to bring or not to bring, ask your youth leader asap.
Is This Event For the Whole Family?
Though the Retreat is designed as a Jr/Sr student outreach event, it is open to all families within the church. Families are encouraged to be a part of all the scheduled activities for the weekend. Prices for families are the same per person as for individuals. Families are welcome to ride on the church bus or provide their own transportation to and from the Retreat.
An information-sharing meeting will be held Sunday, February 13th at 6pm in the FBC Youth Room for FBC Students only. Check with your church leadership if you signup with another area church. All youth going on the the retreat and at least one parent/guardian are required to attend. It is important that you attend so we can get vital information and forms filled out before we leave. Be sure to bring insurance information with you.
